Bombing of Shiite Mosque in Southern Pakistan Kills at Least 29

KARACHI, Pakistan—A bombing attack on a Shiite mosque in southern Pakistan on Friday killed at least 29 people and wounded more than 40, police and hospital officials said.

The bomb targeted one of the main Shiite mosques in the city of Shikarpur in southern Sindh province, around 240 miles north of Pakistan’s largest city, Karachi.

“It happened during the Friday sermon,” said police official Naseem Bukhari. “The roof of the building collapsed, which has also resulted in a lot of damage.”
