This election proves there is no possible way Greece will repay it’s debts. The markets are bailing as fast as they can to prevent themselves from taking a huge bath on money invested in greece.

I suspect that before this all plays out we will see greece either bankrupt and under direct eu control because of it’s failed finances or we will see an independent greece begging for tourists to come and bring $$ as they will be cut off from international purchases in anything but foreign currencies as no one will ever accept greek currency again.

Let them implode. Socialist deserve all the destruction they’ve created.

So you think trusting mainstream parties till the end of time using the same programs again and again are going to work? They haven’t worked up until now.

Papandreou sold Greece out. New Democracy governed for the majority of the last 15 years.

The fact is both PASOK and New Democracy have destroyed Greece.

Why have another coalition with them?

Syriza and fringe parties like them are gaining in popularity whether or not the squabblers continue to squabble.

People are losing hope and if nothing gets fixed then there have to be legitimate alternatives and in the future fringe will no doubt grow.

Socialist is a term that means nothing unless socialist changes actually happen. The fact is capital is flowing in Greece and they have private banks. Greece is an oligarchic and corrupt state due to capitalism.

        • Billy Bob Thornton

By socialist I mean democratic socialism which no party is claiming they have a pure democratic socialist program unless they are the KKE and the fringes of the Syriza party. Remember that they are populists and populism means sounding left wing but they are in a coalition with Independent Greeks a party of the centre-right to right wing. I see no talks about massive unionization, nationalization and workers democratizing workplaces. It doesn’t even sound anti-capitalist but more nationalist than anything else.

With that flag on display, I beg to differ. You don’t see talks about nationalization because the party has just assumed office and is still consolidating its power.

Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
        The frumious Bandersnatch!”

Here’s a tidbit about PM Tsipras – He named his second son Orpheas Ernesto after his idol Ernesto Che Guevara:

Well I guess we can look forward to a few more Greek restaurants in Canada over the next few years.
    I hate Greek restaurants.
Mainly because the ones I’ve been in are greasy dives.
