Dirty commies at The Nation publish something especially insane

“And as Josh Barro points out, single-earner households are getting a bonus another way: the labor a mother or father performs in the home caring for a kid or wiping down a counter is unpaid and therefore goes untaxed. When two parents work outside the home and pay someone to watch their children, both those incomes are taxed.

I’m off to cut the taxman a cheque for that snow I shoveled today.

Ok how many people will stop doing yard work on their property if the government decided to tax them for doing themselves? Who could afford to do it then?

This idiot forgets to say that the working parents also get a deduction for their childcare expenses – $7,000 for a child born after 2008, and $4,000 for a child born 1998 – 2007 (2014 tax year). More for a disabled child. These amounts are due to rise by $1,000 for the 2015 tax year. No deduction for the costs incurred when a “non-working” parent looks after the children at home.
