UK: Hospital deals with 1,500 cases of Female Genital Mutilation in just 5 years with doctors seeing 6 victims a week

Doctors at one English hospital have dealt with 1,500 cases of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) in just five years, it emerged today.

It has been revealed that 15 new cases of FGM are reported to hospitals around the country every day.

But the victims of the shocking practice are clustered in certain areas and Birmingham’s Heartlands Hospital revealed it is dealing with six cases a week.

Great. In one hospital alone they have a Female Genital Mutilation of the Day.
When civil war arrives, among the first strategies should be the stringing up of the politicians responsible; alongside the imams.

    • Yup. I wonder how prevalent it is in Canada. It will be very difficult pulling data on “Reconstructive surgery” from OHIP etc.

I do suspect the extent it occurs is being hushed up.

In 2011, almost 29,000 women from Africa and the Middle East
became permanent residents of Canada. Dr. Davis, who has worked with
hundreds of immigrant women, says a high percentage of these will have
        undergone FGM.

Evidently it’s a huge problem and the huffington post article says it shouldn’t be criminalized because it will still happen overseas and then women will fear going for medical help when back in canada if it goes wrong.

Over the past several months or so, I have not seen ONE artlcle, not one, published by the Canadian or U.S. media cartel, on FGM. There has been virtual media censorship on this. So please keep the artlcles coming. As far as FGM is concerned, we might as well be living on the Soviet Union — the censorship has been so complete.

Some tidbits on the legal situation in Canada regarding FGM:
      1) As of May 1997, anyone performing FGM is guilty of aggravated assault under section 268(3) of the Criminal Code, and can be imprisoned for up to 14 years. Any parent who agrees to have FGM performed on their daughter can be charged as a party to aggravated assault under section 21(1).
      2) The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) requires all physicians who become aware of any case of FGM to report it. I suspect the same is true of other provinces.

I’d love to know what the reported incidences are nationwide.

Thanks for the info. What I’ll do is to put in a formal access-to-information request into Health Canada on this, to obtain any unpublished memoranda. Also, I might put in a request into the respective departments of health in Ontario and Quebec.

        Maybe something will turn up.

        • David Murrell

And on this note, I did a quick search on the Health Canada web site, and could only find ONE published document:

that even mentions the problem in Canada, and this document — a politically correct screed interested in “barriers to Canadian’s seeking health delivery” — does mention that immigrant women might not want to see a doctor, if they have had FGM (sounds plausible). But this is the ONLY paper mentioning FGM.

So this paper did, I think, interview immigrant women on this, but the paper was published some 14 years ago! One could do an ATIR on this paper, but clearly SOME unpublished papers are circulating at Health Canada mentioning, or dealing with this.

The practice would have to be criminalized with heavy fines and jail sentences. Special inspections would have to be made every year of all female children to enforce it.
Controlling the criminality of Muslims is endless and in the end almost impossible because their religious system endorses lying, cheating and other forms of criminality in the name of supremacism. The cost of having Muslims in any country is too high and doesn’t justify itself.

In Britain it is a crime punishable with up to 14 years jail but is just not enforced.

      • Interesting info – so actually the hospitals and/or police and/or judges are not following the rule of law. This is criminal on their part – could they not be pursued in courts?

True. FGM was outlawed in the UK in 1985, but it wasn’t until
last year that anyone was ever prosecuted for it. I suppose it
        was just too politically inconvenient…
