Back soon…

Update: Thank you everyone for the kind thoughts and prayers. We are back home and Mom is resting. Her tests came back OK and save for the episodic lowered heart rate which will require follow up, everything looks fine.

Me Sainted Irish Mother had a “cardiac event” of uncertain nature. It appears transient but the paramedics recommend she be checked out at the Hospital.

She is lucid and seeming back to normal, save for a low heart rate after a scare over breakfast.

I may not be the world’s best cook but I have never sent anyone to Hospital, well least not till today.

Her 90th Birthday fast approaches and I’m really lookin forward to that cake.

Hope you’re feeling well soon Granny fur. Hugs.

Fingers crossed it’s just one of those ephemeral senior things, Blazer.
No way it was the breakfast if it was a proper fry-up, mate. It’s the healthy, nanny-approved ones that’ll do you in every time.
Please give her our best wishes.

    • Looks like it was Mal, let’s hope for the best. Thanks.

      • Mal

        Good news.

Mine made it to 89. Good wishes.

    • Mal

That’s a good innings by any standard, Icebow. Mine’ll be 88 in a couple of months, and she’s in better nick than I am.

    • Good stuff! Thanks.

  • I wish your Mom speedy recovery. Don’t forget to post pictures of the birthday cake (or at least of Pip’s slice of it).

  • John

Here’s hoping your mum gets better.

Mine died on Sept 24th 2014 at the age of 90.

I don’t mourn her, I celebrate her life and it was one well lived and fruitful.

    • Thank you John, I am sorry to hear of your Mother’s passing.

  • moraywatson

Your mom is well looked after in your and Kathy’s loving hands. Good job Arnie. And will you be mailing out cake to the faithful?

    • Ha! Not sure I will be leaving any leftovers! Thanks Moray.

  • David Murrell

Fir, I a praying for your mom. And no, your cooking isn’t all that bad.

    • Arnie is a great cook. Without him we’d starve or be bankrupted etc from take out.

    • Much appreciated David.

When my dad(A long retired volunteer fireman) had his 90th at a local restaurant near the fire hall we arranged for the firemans acappella group to rush in ,in full gear looking for the blaze as we lit all those candles then they sang a sweet adelines version of happy birthday. Ninety is very special, I believe it gives you licence to be as rude as you like 🙂

  • Uncle_Waspy

Best wishes for your mother’s speedy recovery, Cat!

  • Thanks everybody. Haven’t heard from Arnie yet but I suppose no news is good news.

  • Xavier

Best wishes to you, BCF’s Mom.

Odd timing. I lost my stepfather last night to a sudden massive heart attack at 88. The world has tilted on its axis – even the cats can sense it.

Good for you for taking every precaution. Godspeed.

    • Sorry to hear that Xavier.

    • Thank you Xavier, I am sorry to hear of your Father in Law, our thoughts are with you.

  • Dave In Guelph

Best wishes and a quick recovery for your mum Cat.

  • I hope she eats that cake.

Might I suggest a heart-healthy mandarin orange cake:

    • Thanks! I will look into it!

    • Frances

Forget heart-healthy – from 90 onward it’s flowers, favourite tipple, and favourite foods. Once you’ve reached that age, it’s celebration time!!

That being said, thoughts and prayers are with you and your mother, Cat. Know she has had some health issues in the past, and hope you have more good years with her.

      • Some heart-healthy stuff sounds terrible but this doesn’t, so…

  • Surele Surele

I hope your Mom gets better soon, and celebrates her birthday with an Irish gusto.

  • Norman_In_New_York

From one heart patient to another, I hope she gets well.

  • All the best to BCF’s Sainted Irish Mother.

My grandmother made it to 100. Some women just live forever. She’ll be one of those.

Looks like everyone beat me to it in wishing your mother well, and I can add nothing to all the excellent comments already expressed. Still it does not diminish my best wishes and prayers.

  • LauraS
