A Really Horribly Bad Idea

Jewish leaders call for Europe-wide legislation outlawing antisemitism… and free speech, they forgot that part

European Jewish leaders, backed by a host of former EU heads of state and government, are to call for pan-European legislation outlawing antisemitism amid a sense of siege and emergency feeding talk of a mass exodus of Europe’s oldest ethnic minority.

A panel of four prestigious international experts on constitutional law backed by the European Council on Tolerance and Reconciliation (ECTR) have spent three years consulting widely and drafting a 12-page document on “tolerance”. They are lobbying to have it converted into law in the 28 countries of the EU.

The proposal would outlaw antisemitism as well as criminalising a host of other activities deemed to be violating fundamental rights on specious religious, cultural, ethnic and gender grounds.

These would include banning the burqa, female genital mutilation, forced marriage, polygamy, denial of the Holocaust and genocide generally, criminalising xenophobia, and creating a new crime of “group libel” – public defamation of ethnic, cultural or religious groups. Women’s and gay rights would also be covered.

The proposed legislation would also curb, in the wake of the Paris attacks, freedom of expression on grounds of tolerance and in the interests of security.

“Tolerance is a two-way street. Members of a group who wish to benefit from tolerance must show it to society at large, as well as to members of other groups and to dissidents or other members of their own group,” says the document.

Some people are just too stupid for words.

  • kidblast0_1

Would be interested to know who’s included in the “host of former EU heads of state and government”.

    • I can’t find the document on their site.

      • Frau Katze

It’s not that very first one? It’s hard to read from the iPad.

        • The one referred to in the article is a 28 page document, none in the documents section is that length. I am hoping to find the one they are shopping around.

          • Frau Katze

The Guardian gave no link, suggesting that it is not online. I suspect they will meet strong opposition.

  • Martin B

The Kouachi brothers could not have asked for more. Au revoir Charlie.

  • Frau Katze

This will INCREASE anti-Semitism because they are opposed to groups like PEGIDA. The old accusation of facilitating the hated (and failed) multiculturalism will be accurate (at least for this group).

    • It is an appalling attack on freedom, they should be ashamed of themselves.

      • Censored_often

Hear, hear! Eurabian totalitarianism. Any Jews, secular or otherwise, who support this stupid (and unenforceable) law, don’t deserve to be citizens in Europe.

    • Drunk_by_Noon

      You are right Frau.
European Jewry, I am slowly concluding, is rapidly becoming part of the problem.

      • These are not really representative Jews. Most Jews are well aware of the Islamic problem, don’t worry.

        • Drunk_by_Noon

Hi Avi, I like you because you don’t say silly things.
I still like you bunches and bunches, but you are dead wrong here.

With one finger in the air, and the other firmly on the pulse of modern Judaism, my estimate says that about 70% of your co-religionists in the West are bat-guano insane when it comes to the support of policies and beliefs that are destructive to western society.

In Israel, that number HAS to be dramatically lower or they would have disintegrated and been overrun by now. Do you live in Israel by any chance?

If you have better info than I, then I’d love to hear it.

          • Hi DBN. No (re. your 70% statement), that is not my experience talking to Jews in my vicinity. They are almost all (save for some nutty leftists) aware of the situation. I live in Switzerland, but of course know Israel well. In Israel, I’d say more people are aware, but there are also many pretty deluded leftists there.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

The Jews in Switzerland (and for the most part all of the Swiss) seem to be more inoculated against the insanity of multiculturalism than in North America.
I based my 70% number on their habitual support of leftist political parties and ideals in North America.

          • Jews of Europe are I am sure very different from those in Nth Am. especially the US (where, after all, most of them maddeningly voted for Obama). I have not been to Canada for a while, but I’d say Jews there are more realistic than those in the US.

As regards Europe, I image those of Britain to be very different from those of France (with which I am more acquainted). The latter are obviously very aware of the danger of Islam, whatever the media may say.

As regards Switzerland in general, there are thankfully still here some people (i.e. non-Jews) who see the danger of Islam, as voting has shown (against minarets and against immigration). However, the media are definitely dhimmi PC, so there is reason to fear for the future.

          • Censored_often

Deluded leftists are a dime a dozen (or a shekel a dozen) in Eretz Yisrael.

    • Alain

Absolutely. Anti-Semitism was already illegal in Western Europe, and we have all seen just how well that has worked. Most of the European media along with its chattering class constantly demonstrate anti-Semitism; hiding it behind the label of anti-Zionism does not cut it. The Muslims take it beyond talking with on-going physical actions. Far better to have total freedom of speech. Now if the EU would apply the law against inciting violence and harm along with actually causing violence, harm and killing, that would be the only thing required.

  • Jay Currie

They really are terrified of free speech.

Too dumb to be Jewish as your lovely wife might say.

    • It’s Goddamn sickening.

    • occupant 9

They’re terrified of how Islam makes it personal, stalks you at home and work, learns your routines then, according to capability, “strikes at the neck.”

It is also an attempt to delay the inevitable onslaught of Islam’s indulgence in violence because to do otherwise would be unkind to those who want to slay you and somehow, being unkind is worse in the end result.

It’s the rape of common sense.

  • Jan Morrissy

There is this frantic determination to bend to Islam and destroy our freedoms that so many lost their lives fighting for.
It is cloaked in all this other crap that will really not affect any change… except for that one thing. The freedom of speech.
Hang onto it as if it was all that mattered because it will be in the end.

    • Next time, Europe gets to go it alone.

      • WalterBannon

my family already bled for Europe

they have voted for the devil and so they can go to hell with him

  • kidblast0_1

It’s such a bad idea that the former heads of state involved should be named and exposed as enemies of freedom so that their names live in infamy.

    • WalterBannon

they should be more than named, they should be charged with treason

      • kidblast0_1

The “group libel” idea must have been dreamt up by an authoritarian lunatic.

        • It is fascist, in the true meaning of the term. One of the first things the Nazis did was outlawing making fun of the Nazis.

          • Brett_McS

Using the hate-speech laws that were already in place before they came to power. That worked well, didn’t it?

  • WalterBannon

Anyone in favor of this legislation, is a fascist.

As for the so-called Jewish leaders in Europe who support this – know this, your comrades on the left will only use this against you and people who would defend you from the muslim invaders and their anti-Semite allies on the left.

    • They never seem to think that through.

      • WalterBannon

thinking is not a strong point for the left, otherwise they would not be leftists

      • Believe me, the Jews who defend Islam thinking thereby to defend Judaism are just unthinking people. Just as such people exist in the general population, they exist in the Jewish population. They are not really representative.

  • Pontifex Maximus

They double down on stupidity instead of dissolving the EU and deporting all non-Europeans; just keep it up… Bella, horrida bella, et Thybrim multo spumantem sanguine cerno

  • Pontifex Maximus

Mark Steyn is going to become even more radical; doubling down: it works both ways!

  • Drunk_by_Noon

Yes, because excessive personal liberty is what started the Holocaust.

    • Hktony

Frankfurt school morons were Jews . Many prominent liberals supporting obola are Jews. Many bankers are jews. The traitor soros , jew. Jews never call out islam as a cult , why?
It seems like Jews are the main enemies of Jews?? Can anyone tell me what is going on???

      • Pontifex Maximus

Pamela Geller is most talented at exposing Mohammedan malevolence and she is one cute Jewess! https://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/

      • Censored_often

        Oy vay.

      • Pontifex Maximus

Ezra levant is appalled by “official Jewry”; Bernie Farber is a dreadful embarrassment to clear-headed Jews!

      • Drunk_by_Noon

Because even asking that question (“Can anyone tell me what is going on?”) will get you branded an anti-Semite and you will never hold a decent job again.

      • Brett_McS

They are “plopping Jews” – Jews by birth only.

      • Pontifex Maximus
  • Censored_often

This is an absolutely fu**ing insane idea. Are they gonna ban the koran while they’re at it due to its explicit anti-Jewish elements? How can a court determine criticism of religious, theological, or political ideas is “anti-Semitic”? Preposterous, outrageous, awful! If an atheist of whatever background, let’s say Jewish, is charged for criticizing kosher dietary laws, Israeli politics, or whatever, will the government fine them?

1984 is in Eurabia, folks. Move on. Totalitarianism is here to stay. *sigh* *exasperated*

    • Me too. This will not win them many friends.

      • Drunk_by_Noon

        Win them?
It should cost the “official Jewry crowd” everything they have, starting with credibility and ending with being shunned by EVERYONE.

  • simus1

Foolish Euro “official” lefty Jewish idiots can always be counted on to shout “suppress free speech!, suppress free speech!” as their first universal answer to all problems.
Like the Bourbons, they have learned nothing, they have forgotten nothing.
    Despicable people unworthy of trust.

  • disqus_W6sfZCiOd8

I don’t feel good about this at all. If this goes through it is the beginning of the end of freedom of expression….it ends my life.

    • It’s an absolutely foolhardy move and will backfire on the Jewish community. There is this blind belief that they can reach the left and be friends.

  • Brett_McS

The various governments and their advisers don’t know how to cope with these attacks. So, they are trying to mask their failure by pretending the attacks are not what they are and at the same time they are trying to control the people who upset their bullshit narrative.

  • Pontifex Maximus

I predict that the jihadists will target hundreds of assorted VIPs all across Europe; at some point, somebody in the security apparatus is going to snap and order the proper measures: massive profiling of Mohammedans and house to house searches using the military along with the swift reintroduction of border controls in addition to mass round-ups and millions of deportations! I can hardly wait!

    • WalterBannon

more likely these Marxists would react by ordering the Jews be rounded up for “provoking” the muslims into killing again

    • Brett_McS

I predict they won’t. They aren’t stupid. They will keep going at soft targets.

Also, massive house searches using the military would be a big win … for the Jihadis.

  • That will not work.

  • Unfortunately, paradoxically, Islam is currently using Judaism to protect itself and progress in its takeover agenda, and some stupid Jews are playing along unaware that they are signing their own death warrant thereby. Every time someone calls for restrictions on Islamic supremacism, its defenders respond with alleged protection of that other minority religion (Judaism).

For example, banning hallal in schools is viewed as an attack on kosher. Banning burka is compared to banning kipa. Banning clitorectomy is compared to the brit milah. And so on. In this way, every attempt at stopping Islamic practices is blocked. And some Jews are silly enough to go for such equations. But the thing to remember is the larger picture, viz. that Moslems are 1.6 billion in the world and that they want to take it over,

    • Censored_often

Yeah, the poor muzzies only have 57 Muslim majority hellholes to live and yet desire to conquer Europe, North America, Asia, and elsewhere! As you well know, classical Zionism from its origins was a secular political phenomenon consistent with mainstream (nominally Christian) 19th-century European nationalist movements, itself a movement designed to secure a safe nation for (often) persecuted Jews to live.

The Muslims have nothing in common with the historical experience of Jews. These comparisons are disingenuous and highly misleading, as we all know. *sigh*

LEFTISTS, Jews and non-Jews, are deluded and taqiyya artists in their own right. LEFTISTS deny historical truth for current political gain. It has always been this way and always will. *sigh*

      • sigh indeed (I actually sighed!)

  • What worries the EU Jewish leaders most is of course the danger of free speech for anti-Semites. We saw, for instance, how as soon as “Je suis Charlie” was sanctified, then Dieudonné said “Je suis Charlie Coulibally”. Anti-Semitism unfortunately can spread like wildfire if allowed to.

Moreover, these Jewish leaders fear to anger Moslems into more anti-Semitic acts by frontally attacking Islam, and so they engage in PC equations between Islam and Judaism. In truth, all Jews know that Moslems are today the No. 1 enemy of Jews worldwide. But these leaders are not fighters, but effectively dhimmis fearfully giving in to threats of reprisal.

All this is of course shortsighted and thoughtless. Free speech must be supported to allow the European population to deal with the general threat posed by Moslems. Naturally, this opens the door to anti-Semitic baiting too – but more specific measures must be sought to combat this particular danger, and this is possible because Jews do not pose any threat to the general population unlike Moslems who do.

The situation is complex, and it is precisely this complexity that gives Moslems the means to come into Europe and to settle it in anticipation of Eurabia. Most importantly, anti-Islam forces must always clearly declare their rejection of anti-Semitism. Left wingers always attack the anti-Islam right wing by claiming to defend Jews.

When making reasonable statements like “Tolerance is a two-way street. Members of a group who wish to benefit from tolerance must show it to society at large, as well as to members of other groups and to dissidents or other members of their own group,” we should always remember that though this may reflect our own basic decency, the Moslems do not share these values, and once they grab power they will definitely show their intolerance as they are doing throughout the Moslem world. That’s the bottom line. You may love your enemy, but in the real world that won’t make him love you back.

    • Censored_often

Left wingers are deluded in so many ways. Excellent comments above, Avi Sion. I always enjoy reading your comments at BCF.

  • Hard Little Machine

I think curb stomping should be included under free speech. If I don’t like your speech I am free to crush your face on the curb. Allahu FuckYou.
