Churchill insisted a marmalade cat should always live at Chartwell “in comfortable residence”.

The current resident is Jock VI, who has his own Facebook page and receives gifts including packets of tuna from visitors.

Talk about burying the lead. This is why Churchill was a Great Man.

Lucy just had another batch of kitties. Didn’t get her ‘done’ in time. Four this time (although there was a fifth that was stillborn). Lucy is only a tiny cat, but has the loveliest nature and will start purring with the slightest attention.

Once again I must paraphrase WSC… I like pigs…Cats look down at us….dogs look up to us….pigs treat us as equals… There you have it

One more on a long list of reasons to like Churchill.

Speaking of ‘marmalade cats’, sadly, my marmalade cat passed away last Saturday. 🙁

As you can see from his body-type in the photos, ‘Daisy’ lived, to quote Churchill, ‘in comfortable residence’.

Not to mention we buried Mr. D with a half dozen cans of albacore tuna. 😉

    RIP Buddy…..

    • Ahh man I am sorry Yusuf. Daisy looks like a great kitty.

        Thanks, Fur.

        He was a great kitty.
He looked like a cat and socialized like a dog.

So sorry for your loss – cats are indeed family. But am reminded of a cartoon at our vet’s: “Our cat is in shape. Square is a shape.”

      • Yusuf_Al_Kafir

Yes, they are like family. Especially after 15 years.

‘”Our cat is in shape. Square is a shape.”‘

        Haha, that’s funny!
        Thanks for the laugh.

        Here ya go, Frances…..

  • There are many places that allow cats as “employees”. The Hermitage in Saint Petersburg is one of them.
