Why Kathleen Wynne’s looming cash grab won’t help the environment

Today’s column features remedial reading for Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne and Climate Change Minister Glen Murray.

They claim they can devise a “carbon pricing” scheme — an added cost to the public put on industrial carbon dioxide emissions when fossil fuels are burned — that will be, “real, efficient, effective and economically positive.”

Now let’s talk reality.

The Liberals’ carbon pricing plan — whether a carbon tax or cap-and-trade — is demonstrably a cash grab by a fiscally incompetent government desperate for more of our money which will not help the environment.

It’s sorta like whats going on down USA way. No matter how sleazy and criminal and down right insane the policies they come up with are, the electorate just yawns, turns over and slumbers on.

Queen’s Park should be powered by a giant windmill. That should keep them out of trouble for a while.

    • That’s a great idea.

And Kathleen Wynne’s house, as well.

Her house is powered entirely by her sense of moral superiority.

These criminals belong in prison. Why has the federal government not stepped in and sent the RCMP to investigate the crooked Wynne government yet?

The major environmental problem we have in Ontario is the loss of green space due to building new housing for hundreds of thousands of diverse enrichers we import every year. Wanna protect the environment? Stop importing people.!

  • Jay Currie

At some point it will be significantly cheaper for businesses to buy a generator and make their own electricity. It is not as if the technology is unknown. With gas prices down this becomes attractive for people confronted with silly charges to “save the planet” by paying extravagant “Earth taxes”.

There have been a few op-eds and columns in the Star, and the Globe and Mail, supporting the oncoming Wynne cash grab. The Conference Board in Canada’s chief economist write one recently in the Globe. With energy prices down, the establishment wasn’t a tax, so as not to allow consumers any inflation relief. And the establishment media will endorse the tax grab.

To Liberals, the words “taxing carbon” mean “TAXING carbon.”

It has never been about the environment but has always been about stealing money to get rich. The sooner people wake up to this fact the better. Government in this case behaves exactly like organised crime in shaking down people by force. At least in the private market when someone pushes a scam, if you have enough smarts you can refuse.

I would like the 25 dollars a week I’m saving each week on lower gas prices to stay in my pocket! 25×4= 100 per month 1200 per year which I can add into my RRSP or put it towards a vacation?
I guess what I’m trying to say is that I would like to spend my own money on me & not have it taken away to be pissed away.

Can’t we just have a little enjoyment in life? please…

      You’re not qualified for that.
