Saudi Arabia postpones 1,000 lashes sentence for blogger

Saudi authorities have postponed the flogging of a liberal activist and writer whose sentence to 1,000 lashes had been condemned round the world, Amnesty International has said.

Raif Badawi, who criticised the Saudi religious establishment on his blog, was due to receive the second of 20 batches of 50 lashings each after Friday prayers.

Shortly before it was due to be administered, in the Red Sea city of Jeddah, Amnesty said it had been told the flogging had been postponed “for medical reasons”.

20 lashes last week had become infected from the Camel dung they used to coat them and now he’s too week to stand.

Since all Muslims point their ass toward Mecca (the world is round not flat) they would have to take notice of a return of Mecca to its condition around 600 AD. It could be so effortlessly restored that we could call it a cartoon war. The Saudi Royals could flee with their pilfered wealth just like Ferdinand Marcos, and abandon their pretense of reverence for a guy that has been dead for nearly 1,400 years.

I don’t know why we are interfering. This is standard punishment over there for terrorists also. All those returning Gitmo terrorists for example.

Can we trade one atheist Raif Badawi for the ready-made Jihadi factory of 10,000 Syrian Muslim “refugees” set to begin production soon in your home town?
