Islam had nothing to do with this (and other fibs you’re likely to hear)

I don’t always agree with Peter Hitchens but this is by far the best piece I’ve seen on the political reaction to the Paris attacks.

As far as Cameron, Miliband and Clegg are concerned, we must all sign up to these shibboleths:

The attack was nothing to do with Islam.

Almost all Muslims, here and abroad, found those attacks repugnant.

The attacks were perpetrated and supported by a minuscule number of people who can simply be defined as ‘terrorists’.

Immigration and multiculturalism were in no way contributory causes of either the Paris attack or the attacks which we might experience in the future or have suffered in the past.

All four of those easy, expedient, shibboleths are palpably wrong.

  • The attack was everything to do with Islam.

Very few Muslims, here and abroad, found those attacks repugnant.

The attacks were perpetrated by a minuscule number of people who can simply be defined as ‘terrorists’ and supported by a massive number of others who can be defined as ‘terrorist supporters’.

Immigration and multiculturalism were in every way contributory causes of the Paris attack, the attacks which we might experience in the future and have suffered in the past.

It’s the huge number of “supporters” who are the real problem. And, I agree, there are plenty.

Predictably, conspiracy theories are also starting to circulate.

  • Religion is something you cannot prove.

European liberal elites do not believe in religion and look down on those who do.

Multiculturalism is something you cannot prove and has become a “religion” to Euro elites.

Euro elites so believe their multi-culti religion they cannot fathom a religion which trains killers.

What is happening in Europe really is a “religious” battle. The multi-cultis versus Islam.

Islam has spread for 1,400 years by force. The multi-cultis are not willing to fight.

    This does not look good.

It does seem that the current leftist narrative, based on multikulti, has become a religion itself. It has its own set of taboos and practises shunning of apostates.
