French PM: ‘Jailed radicals must be in solitary confinement’

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls argued on Monday that there must be a “general measure” to place imprisoned radical Islamists in solitary confinement to avoid the spread of extremist views within the walls of French prisons.

“We separate these inmates from the rest,” Valls told French TV channel BFMTV on Monday.

“It must become a general measure (but) it must be done with discernment and intelligence.”
