Astonishing pictures show young children handling huge machine guns as part of Thailand’s national Children’s Day

These astonishing pictures show young children in Thailand’s capital Bangkok as they are allowed to handle guns as part of annual holiday Children’s Day.

The pictures, which were taken today, show children as young as three and four years old touching machine guns at the Royal Thai Navy Academy in south Bangkok, Thailand.

Thai national Children’s Day is celebrated annually on every second Saturday in January.

Every army base in Canada has an armed forces day, where they are open to the public and the troops put on displays, get out their weapons and let the kids play with them. If this is supposed to be something shocking the “journalists” should pay more attention to what is going on around them in their own country.

Ity is only shocking as per lately.
This is part of the anti gun movement towards gun control.

“and let the kids play with them”

False. Children are allowed to “handle” the weaponry, unloaded with firing pins removed.

I am aware of how it worked. I was one of the soldiers taking part in these events. The breech blocks are probably removed in the Thai example also, as I assume they follow our practice of removing them from firearms in storage and issuing them separately as needed.

So, you agree, the word “play” was a bad choice of word

I went to a military tatoo in Wales when I was a kid, they let me handle a Stirling SMG, and nothing was removed, it just wasn’t loaded. The guy even showed my how to field-strip it.

        • Martin Luffa

Did you get to run around and play soldier?

          You didn’t “play” with it.

That’s all I was pointing out

          • FactsWillOut

            Point taken.

Immediately knew it was a DM or Guardian “news item” even before clicking on it by the “breathless twit with the vapours tone” of the writing.

If I see an article that is “Astonishing,”:”Shocking,” or “Unbelievable,” I automatically know it’s a complete waste of time to read!

At that age my brother and I were manning an AA gun on the USS North Carolina. Only a leftist rag like the Wail would have an issue with this.

  • Norman_In_New_York

What is most shocking is that these children are Buddhists and not Muslims.

    • ntt1

Buddists are no longer taking crap from muslims . check out what is happening in southern Thailand and in Burma . There is armed resistance and in Burma, forced deportation. lets hope this spreads.

  • FactsWillOut

    That is not shocking.
Any military tatoo in England, you can see the same thing.

I am going to presume they are not loaded, that being the case whats the problem? Guns don’t shoot by themselves.
