Australian newspaper publishes Muhammad cartoon

Cartoon from The Australian.

SYDNEY, Australia — An Australian newspaper Saturday published a cartoon depicting the Prophet Muhammad arguing with Jesus, as it urged support for free speech in the wake of the deadly attack on a French satirical weekly.

Twelve people were killed in Wednesday’s attack by extremists on magazine Charlie Hebdo’s office in Paris, prompting cartoonists around the world to put pen to paper in solidarity with their French colleagues.

The Weekend Australian newspaper published the cartoon by Bill Leak entitled “Let us pray” in which Jesus is holding up the Koran and telling Muhammad: “I’ve told you this needs a sequel,” a reference to the Bible which has an Old and New Testament.

To which Muhammad, brandishing a newspaper with the headline “World at War,” replies he can’t return to human form right now because he would be “crucified”…

As far as I’m concerned, the assumption that Mo’hound is in Heaven is an insult to Judeo-Christianity and deserves the most severe punishment our religions will allow.

We’re sending people to ignore you, Leak. Watch your back.

And if that doesn’t work, it’s on, baby: Candlelight vigil on the foot path outside, thronging crowd of six or seven … old ladies, [prayer] bombs, the works.

      • Xavier

        And if that doesn’t work…..

WE’LL PRAY FOR YOUR IMMORTAL SOUL!

        No quarter.

Thats a perfect sign of democracy,no body in this world has the right to stop the freedom of expressition and democracy.

    • Clausewitz

May not agree with the deeper meanings of this cartoon, but I’ll fight to the end for their right to post it. Sadly the same is not true from the denizens of the religion of pieces.

      • Brett_McS

Indeed, have the Jews every used the violence described in the “Old Testament” to justify murder of non-Jews? So it didn’t need sequel.

  • Brett_McS

Good on them. The Australian is a proper newspaper; the only one I have ever subscribed to.

    • Pete_Brewster

Be aware it’s a News Corp paper, and as such partly Saudi owned.

      • Frau Katze

Is anything not partly Saudi owned these days?

        • Pete_Brewster

          BCF isn’t!

      • Brett_McS

Perhaps the Saudis will sell up their share?

        • Pete_Brewster

The oil will run out in 15 years. By then the House of Saud plan to have a substantial enough stake in the world’s banking system to have effective veto power over the actions of the government of every nation on earth, along with editorial control over their media. They have no choice, really. The day the jiyza runs out they’re finished.

          In other words, no.

    interesting if true (?)

    • Frau Katze

I’ve seen those early ones before. I think they’re real.

      • Xavier

Frau have you seen the CNN story that Islamic sleeper cells in France were activated by the brothers K? French police have been told to carry guns and delete social media accounts.

Yikes! I’ve made a note of it. But I’m done posting for the day. I’ll do it tomorrow if BCF doesn’t do it first (he’s three hours ahead of me).

    • barryjr

He sure got upset when they were mentioned yesterday during his time on SNN. I would have to say they are real from his reaction.

        Christopher Hitchens:

“The best blended Scotch in the history of the world – which was also
the favourite drink of the Iraqi Baath Party, as it still is of the
Palestinian Authority and the Libyan dictatorship and large branches of
the Saudi Arabian royal family – is Johnnie Walker Black. Breakfast
        of champions, accept no substitute.”

Good for them for not only publishing a Mohammed cartoon, but, a rather funny, and spot on, Mohammed cartoon.

    • Pete_Brewster

I laughed too—Mo’s Australianisms made me smile especially—but portraying him as merely an especially incompetent assistant to the Messiah was far too kind.

  • SDMatt

I suggest that Mo be called

    the so-called prophet Mohammad

The CBC likes to use “so-called” as a sign of disdain; I say we use the term against their allies.

    • Yusuf_Al_Kafir

‘Profiteer Mohammed’ has a nice ring to it as well.

    • winniec

      So-called CBC.

If only the US media had that many guts.

  • Xavier

They need to do another cartoon with Jesus ghost writing the Qur’an sequel. Mo’hound can be babbling about the good old days of pedophilia and killing kafirs; Jesus tells him to shut up and says he’ll use parts of the New Testament instead.

    • Clausewitz

Jesus’ Ghost? Next you’ll be saying he’s rolling over in his grave.

  • winniec

Excellent point in the cartoon. The Ahmadi Muslims got their sequel which downplays jihad. But they are ‘heretics’ worshipping reincarnations of Jesus and Mohammed.

  • Once again, the wags equate Christianity with Islamism.

It’s not brave. It’s more of the same.
