Canada will accept another 10,000 Syrian refugees over the next three years and another 3,000 Iraqis in 2015 as Ottawa opens its doors wider for people displaced by a civil war and the Islamic State’s reign of terror in the region.
It’s a huge promised increase in the number of Syrians – one that meets 10 per cent of the latest United Nations Refugee Agency appeal for nations to welcome refugees from the crisis in that country…
Immigration Minister Chris Alexander, who announced the move Wednesday, said the measure is about “doing the right thing” for “Syrians and Iraqis who face the worst forms of violence in the world today.”
That didn’t take long. As I wrote earlier this morning, politicians will lie about Islam to curry favour with Muslims in exchange for votes. And we have an election coming up. Funny how that works.
