(Reuters) – Suspected Islamist militants captured and killed a Tunisian police officer, stabbing him and slashing his throat as he traveled home off-duty south of the capital, the government said on Sunday.

Nine suspected militants were arrested after the officer was killed on Saturday night near El Fahes in the Zaghouan region, around 60 km (37 miles) southwest of Tunis, the interior ministry said.

Tunisia has been praised for its young democracy after its 2011 uprising toppled autocrat Zine El-Abidine Ben Ali and allowed free elections and a new constitution.

But Islamist militants are waging a campaign against security forces, who are trying to flush them out from the Chaambi mountains bordering Algeria.

Authorities are also worried about Islamist extremists using remote, desert areas of neighboring Libya as a base…

  • The situation in north Africa is a dire one, to say the least. Those who are not completely Islamified have the least amount of wiggle room in the Islamic world. Would that Tunisia were Jordan right now.

Islamists are killing Islam by killing moderate Muslims. When they do so, many moderate or negligible Muslims lose their faith in the backward Death Cult entirely and become fierce secularists. This is happening throughout the Islamic world. Muslims are turning away from Islam.

Seems to be a lot of mental illness going around. And where do all these wolves keep coming from. Don’t expect to see these stories in the media, it goes against the policy of “nothing to do with islam”. They prefer safe topics like round the clock coverage of downed planes or ferries on fire.

The attacker is likely not a “lone wolf.” There are crackpot organizations they can join, like Ansar al-Sharia.
