US: Woman bishop exposed as hit-and-run driver in fatal crash was chased down and confronted by a 65-year-old bicyclist before she came forward to police

The woman bishop who killed a cyclist in a hit-and-run was chased down by a 65-year-old man on his bicycle after she fled the scene of the accident, has learned.

Heather Elizabeth Cook, 58, has been suspended by the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland, where she is the second highest-ranked member of the clergy, while the hit-and-run is investigated.

The bishop left bike-maker Tom Palermo to die by the side of the road after she struck him on Saturday. She later returned to the scene in what Bishop Eugene Taylor Sutton – the diocese’s most senior leader- described as ‘taking responsibility for her actions’…

…The development came as it was revealed that when Bishop Heather Elizabeth Cook was arrested for DWI four years ago she was so drunk she had thrown up on herself and was driving on the road shoulder with a shredded tire…

So drunk driving did not disqualify her? And we’re not talking slightly over the limit either. WTF?

As Kate says at SDA our Moral & Intellectual superiors

They look adorable but what’s with the Hebrew on her robe?

      It translates into Wide Load.

        No, shalom.

thats pretty sad, here in BC we had a sitting judge who was ajudicating drunk driving cases while under investigation for the same crime while he was regularly dunning plebs with suspentions and fines . bendroit was the name , apparently the police cut him loads of slack .I wonder how many breaks this drunken bishop got? a rule of thumb is that a suspect will have commited a crime 20 or so times prior to being caught.

The man who followed her said she lived in a gated community. I guess they’re common in the US (not very common in the Victoria area).

      • ntt1

Gated just means they have a security fence or wall and guarded gate access for tenants only, deliveries must be approved by home owner .

They should just rename it the “Church of Ambitious Upper Management and Dodgy Old Money”.
    Awesome threads.

Looks like the costume store had a sale on. Oh, wait, these people actually run a church? Yikes.

Laws are for the little people.

Check out the video of part of one of her sermons. Has she done hit-and-run before but got away with it? Also, Standing Room Only! (not).

    Alcoholism is a disease.

    • Frau Katze

Definitely. But that’s no excuse to drive. Or for the church to promote her.

This woman’s an Episcopalian. They’re the crowd that seriously bow down to current culture and demonize anyone who actually tries to follow Biblical teaching. Wasn’t that long ago they had a woman priest wore a hijab and professed to be both Muslim and Episcopalian. In the USA, there’s a new group out, the American Anglican Council (affiliated with the American Church North America if I am correct), to which the orthodox Episcopalians are fleeing. They are leaving their churches – many historic -behind as they move onward. The current Bishop of the Episcopalian Church is on record as saying she would rather see these historic Episcopalian churches be turned into mosques than sell them (and many parishes would be willing to pay to get their historic worship sites back) to the leaving Anglicans.

I remember hearing about that last part, how they’d rather see them turned into mosques than let the schismatics buy them. Our culture is committing suicide. Ripe picking for the Muzz, and they’re certainly looking.
