Palestinian statehood resolution fails at UN Security Council

The UN Security Council on Tuesday rejected a resolution on Palestinian statehood by a vote of eight to two, with five abstentions.

France, China and Russia were among the countries that supported the text setting a 12-month deadline for negotiations on a final peace deal with Israel and an imposed full Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank and East Jerusalem by the end of 2017. Argentina, Chad, Chile, Jordan and Luxembourg also voted for the resolution.

Australia and the United States voted against…

I totally care what the UN thinks, says, or does.

  • Brett_McS

Actually, it voted in favor eight to two, but nine votes are required to pass, so the resolution failed. I suppose it is something that the US voted against even under the Appeaser in Chief.

  • I can guess at Chad and Jordan’s motives for supporting a Palestinian state but Luxembourg?

  • Just a thought

“…an imposed full Israeli withdrawal from the West Bank and East Jerusalem by the end of 2017.”

Keep in mind that the Psalms were written before the First Temple, nearly 3 thousand years ago.

    2. O God, have no silence, do not be silent and do not be still, O God.
    3. For behold, Your enemies stir, and those who hate You raise their heads.
    4. Against Your people they plot cunningly, and they take counsel against Your protected ones.
    5. They said, “Come, let us destroy them from [being] a nation, and the name of Israel will no longer be remembered.”

Why they are obsessed with Israel’s destruction, for the sake of some of the worst of humanity, should puzzle any sane person, I would think.

Also from the Psalms is the following that sounds eerily contemporary:

“Why are the nations in an uproar,
And why do the peoples mutter in vain?
The kings of the earth stand up
And the rulers take counsel together
Against God and against His anointed.
‘Let us break their bands asunder
And cast away their cords from us.’
From on high, God is laughing at them.
      He holds them in derision,
Then He will address them in His anger
And affright them with His sore displeasure.
‘Truly it is I who have established My king
      Upon Zion, My holy mountain.'”

This should be enough to show the US is definitely in Israel’s corner. And people claim Obama is a Muslim. Sounds like the Democrats are more about staying in power than anything else. In the US, you have to be part of the AIPAC crowd rather than have a balanced foreign policy meaning one that is independent and for not launching useless wars like for the 13+ years. Don’t forget Iraq was unnecessary. So was Libya. I mean the US could have made deals and stuck with just Afghanistan.

    • Billy Bob Thornton

Of course Fox News and many other networks claim Obama is Muslim even though in the end most of the time Obama and his cabinet are with Israel. So I fail to see where Obama is against Israel other than right wing talking points. As someone that wants peace I feel we need to look at our own national interests and we can have allies but we should not be lockstep but we have to form relationships to make sure wars never happen. That is why the mediation, diplomacy and discussion route is definitely favoured. Of course this should end the talking points but Obama I feel like most Western leaders are bought and paid for.

After all the sophomoric bullshit your just another Jew hater.

        • Billy Bob Thornton

Not true the purpose of my comment was to prove that Obama is like every other American politician. They have to be approved and follow everything the Israel lobby wants. I am anti-Israel not anti-Jewish.

            Your an anti-Semite prevaricator.

            Cheers

Anyone who is anti-Israel is anti-Jewish, including a few noisy JINOs.

          • Billy Bob Thornton

No it’s not true and I can prove it because Israel’s settlement building goes against international law. AIPAC is an organization lobbying to launch wars against Syria, Iran and in fact nations that don’t cater to US dollarification and US interests and Israel is at the centre of it. Which is why Israel keeps bringing up Iran’s program which there no proof of them building weapons. It reminds me of the WMD debable pre-Iraq. So I am against Israel because they are imperialist and are there to sell the latest fear of the day. They advocate for war on US networks and quite frankly Iran is going to be attacked due to the slavishness of mainstream politicians in the US.

          • Billy Bob Thornton

And yes the mainstream in Canada is equally as slavish as the politicians in the US and why we need nationalism and not interventionism. To be interventionist means to be globalist and thus selling your nation out.

You’d be unable to prove your maleness if you were given explicit instructions.

            Cheers

          • BBT – you are really dreaming. None of what you say is even remotely close to reality. You have swallowed anti-Israel propaganda hook, line and sinker. Try to look at the facts, not popular fantasies.

          • Norman_In_New_York

Imperialist? You have just given yourself away as a Jew-hating Nazi pig. I reject your assertion of any good feelings toward me as a Jew and I reject you as a civilized human being. Go fuck yourself, troll.

All the axis of evil nations in lock step against Israel. Whats new?

France has always acted like a fickle whore, so this is just the norm. Russia’s vote is despicable for two reasons. It was the old KGB that created the myth of a “Palestinian” people and Russia has no shortage of Muslim problems. As for China again there is no shortage of Muslim problems, and as for China standing up for so-called human rights that is an insult. As for the Latin American countries voting for it, they have shamed themselves. But then the whole bloody UN Security Council is a pathetic farce just as the whole UN is.

    It’s a Zionist conspiracy!
