‘Sweden can’t avoid immigration debate’ – govt sets agreement until 2022 to govern without Sweden Democrat’s support

Sweden may have narrowly avoided snap elections that would have been dominated by a debate on immigration, but with asylum seekers arriving in record numbers the issue is unlikely to stay off the agenda for long, analysts say.

The Sweden Democrats, a far-right party holding the balance of power in parliament, had said they wanted the polls to serve as a “referendum on immigration” — and they almost succeeded.

“If we had ended up with snap elections, we would have talked a lot about immigration and it would have been on the Sweden Democrats’ terms,” said Camilla Sandström, a political scientist at Umeå University in northern Sweden.

The Sweden Democrats, who came third in September parliamentary polls, this month pushed Prime Minister Stefan Löfven to call early elections after they refused to back his budget to signal discontent with his generous immigration policies.

But on Saturday, Löfven, a Social Democrat, announced a surprise deal with the centre-right opposition that enables him to stay in the job without seeking a new mandate from voters.

He unveiled a wide-ranging agreement that aims to ensure political stability until 2022 by allowing the traditional parties to govern without asking for support from the Sweden Democrats…

Sweden, with a population of 9.6 million people, has one of Europe’s most liberal immigration policies and is expected to receive up to 105,000 asylum seekers next year, according to official estimates.

This record number is partly due to a sweeping gesture announced last year to grant permanent residency to all Syrian refugees who make it to Sweden.

Critics argue politicians like former prime minister Fredrik Reinfeldt, who says Sweden can handle many more immigrants, are out of tune with the reality on the ground.

They say integration has generally been much less successful than claimed by the political establishment and a lack of open debate has made the situation worse…

So much for democracy in Sweden.  A Swedish commenter at another site called it ‘a coup.’

  • Sweden needs a revolution, this is criminal.

A week is a long time in politics. Expect an acrimonious divorce.

I really wasn’t ‘over the top’ when I said the Swedish people need to kill most of their politicians but ALL their “Journalists”.

Yet another country that will be blocked from having an honest discussion about immigrants until their numbers are so high that it will be impossible to elect a government willing to do anything about it.

Papering over the cracks? I can’t see this being an effective strategy. Unless their strategy is to increase the anti-immigrant vote.

They can import millions of voters before the next election in 2018.

      • Brett_McS

That certainly seems to be the long term plan. The problem for them is that people are waking up to it, so some form of accommodation is now the better approach. Instead they are stoking the opposition flame.

An article I read elsewhere said this technique was used successfully in Belgium in the 1990’s to fend on an anti-immigrant party there. Brussels is now chock-full of Muslims. The left don’t seem to care.

The Swedish commenter says he’s thinks it’s all over for Sweden. His only consolation is he figures he won’t live to see the worst if it ( he is not a young man).

I don’t think Canada is far off than Sweden in replacing native populations with imported cultures.
-Sweden’s population 9.6 million receives; 105K refugees as immigrants annually.
-Canada’s population 33 million receives; 300K as immigrants 500K as foreign students & 250K as TFW annually. A total of around 1 million, 95% of whom are from third world cesspits. the people who couldn’t develop make their own cultures or make their countries livable.

Why will They not reduce immigration even after the attack in Ottawa? They just expanded the family reunification program as if the socialist “health care” system is not already under immense strain!

    • Brett_McS

I didn’t realize Canada had that many people. I thought it was comparable to Australia’s population.

        We`re very quiet.

I am sure others have also noticed how those pushing for more “immigrants”/invaders never live in the same neighbourhood or area as the so-called immigrants and refugees. They are all guilty of treason and should be brought to justice.

Sweden is committing racial suicide. Time to declare war against the multicult

So they’re run by a Politburo of sorts now. Ok.
