Why halal certification is in turmoil

Kirralie Smith is a permaculture farmer from northern New South Wales and a mother of three. She is also the public face of the virulent campaign to boycott halal food and products.

Halal means permissible for Muslims to eat or use, and Smith’s Facebook page “‘Boycott Halal in Australia” has 41,000 supporters. She speaks at events organised by “Islam-critical” groups such as the Q Society, which has also been involved in local campaigns to stop mosques being built. Her “Halal Choices” website, she says, gets 80,000 visitors a month.

In turmoil? There’s a simple solution. Give people a choice whether to purchase Halal or not. That’s all their asking.

Make labeling mandatory and let the people decide which food producers to support with their dollars.

We need this right to choice in Canada, they proudly display which seafoods are certified by David Suzuki and I make my choice accordingly, as a result I boycott all Sea Food purchases at Jimmy Pattison owned store chains (savons,IGA,Extra foods)
If he has crumpled for suzuki the chances are good your grocery dollars are also supporting jihad somewhere.

    • Yes. Freedom of choice is a right, it should not be subverted by the unprincipled politically correct eunuchs and worse who prevent us from doing so.

You better check which company packed the fish as well then. By the way I thought extra foods were owned by Loblaws which owns Superstore.

patttison owns loblaws too, suzuki certifies only that fish product that satisfies his agenda.

… Suzuki certifies only fish products that pay him fees …

          Cheers

getting fees is pretty much the entirety of suzukis agenda

Assess a 100% excise tax on halal certification fees. That should stop it.

  • Support freedom and humanity.

    Don’t buy halal products.

  • Surele Surele

When in doubt… I just don’t buy it.

    All pledge with me today:
Whenever visiting your grocery store leave a pack of pork on the ‘halal’ shelf.

The SMH is a lefty newspaper. I can imagine the tone of the article if they found out that suppliers to supermarkets were paying, say, the Mormon Church for certification.
