Rolling Stone calls on journalism school to audit UVA false gang-rape story

Rolling Stone magazine has asked Columbia University’s journalism school to investigate a discredited article it ran in November alleging gang rape at a campus fraternity, the New York-based school said.

    Could be interesting.

In a rare move for a publisher, the music magazine will get the journalism school to produce an independent review of how it handled the story, which it said showed editorial missteps and discrepancies.

“Rolling Stone has agreed to publish our report in its entirety, without editing, on its website, as well as substantial excerpts in the magazine,” Columbia Journalism School said in a statement.

Or they could, at much lower expense, tell the editors who let Erdely’s pack of lies be printed to clear out their cubicles and not even think of asking for good job references. But that would involve making the little darlings take responsibility for something.

LOL! I have not the foggiest what schools of journalism even teach. Do they teach fact-checking or just “social justice” crap?

Yup. Asking the CSJ to investigate Rolling Stone’s corrupt news article is a laugh. Here is a dated post (in the middle of the 2008 U.S. presidential election) where a blogger quotes an ABC News reporter, of “being embarrassed at being a journalist” at the one-sided news coverage favouring Obama:

It’s a good rant attacking the U.S. news elites. At the end of the post, the writer attacks institutions like the Columbia School of Journalism, for grooming young reporters to be left-leaning. Rolling Stone appointing the CSJ to investigate its reporting is so much meaningless blather.

what is going to be produced will of course be a piece of biased crap. But the nasty justifications anticipated will have some value in high lighting how hopelessly corrupt the J school has become.
