Oops! Thai Junta to re-edit core values school film featuring boy painting Hitler

A propaganda film commissioned by Thailand’s military regime was supposed to promote the ’12 core values’ all Thai youths must learn.

But there was one scene the junta has had trouble explaining: a grinning schoolboy painting an image of Adolf Hitler while his smiling classmate applauds.

The video, screened before films in major cinemas since Saturday, has been met with ridicule on social media and condemned by the Israeli Embassy in Bangkok.

  • Just a thought

Oh, joy. Here we go again.

I honestly think there are a lot more real and serious problems facing Jews and the free world today however inappropriate it may be. I’d be a lot more concerned about the Muslims killing and beheading people for not being Muslim or even not being Muslim enough for the killers. I’d also be a lot more concerned about the totalitarians (understand Left) who wage war on freedom in every free country including Israel. I should also add that in most of Asia people have little understanding of Hitler – that is the historic Hitler or the real one.

    • Perhaps but Asians expect everyone to understand the very roots of their hatred of the Japanese while they do things like the above. They can embrace some empathy.

I agree with your point, but I still find it over-reacting here. It should be enough to explain why it is offensive; end of story. The Thai are battling the same enemy, Islam, as we are. I find the treat of totalitarian, militant Islam a real threat and not this. Last I want to make clear that my use of Asian is not the same as in the UK.

        • I think that’s a bit off-tangent. The Thai would have done this, Islamists or not. In fact, this is something of a common occurrence. If they don’t want to be associated with Islamists, they wouldn’t worship Hitler. This is a continent that thinks it doesn’t need to connect or attempt to understand other cultures but gets furious when others don’t see things its way.

  • Asians can be such @$$holes about this.

It’s time to invent a “Whack-a-Mole” game where a Japanese militant hits Thai people with a wooden sword.

    It’s a joke!
