The Phantom: What Thomas Sowell is too polite to say

“Thomas Sowell is being polite in implying the Republicans are crazy. They’re not crazy. They’re selling America for a bowl of potage.
I think a decent accountant could explain exactly why the Republican leadership is supporting Obama’s idiot immigration policies. Just let him alone in a small room with their tax returns and their donor lists for a couple hours, and he’d be able to lay it out for you.”

    Sowell is awesome.

Used to subscribe to Forbes when I was young and ambitious.
    Because of his great insight.
Thomas Sowell was almost always my first read and best read.

Middle class wages have been flat for thirty years.
There is no labor shortage therefor we need no more immigrants, legal or legalized.
We do need to get rid of this “everyone’s a contractor” nonsense.
That needs to be highly regulated.

The contractor thing actually helped at one of my first jobs years ago.
I worked forty hours a week for a regular wage working maintenance for this banquet place.
And I could work as a bartender on the weekends as a contractor.
There was no impediment to overtime, since I technically wasn’t working overtime.
When it was busy I could work seventy hours a week but it was worth it to me at the time.

It might have worked out for you in that circumstance, but in most cases its a dodge to overwork and underpay and not provide benefits.

  • Obama has legalised slavery and the Republicans did nothing to stop it.

I am sure this is true, the supposed conservatives are rino’s and liars.

  • The Phantom

Greetings all. Thanks for the linkage Mamba!

Phantom’s analysis is sound. All I was going to add was that what we are asked to call free trade is motivated by exactly the same thing. If the help get uppity, move operations to China or Mexico, leaving arcane labour and environmental regulations to be enforced only on the small businesses that risk becoming the competition one day.
