John Maguire’s passport had been revoked: Blaney

OTTAWA – The Canadian jihadi who appeared in a video Sunday in which he called for attacks on Canadian soil had his passport revoked “some time ago,” raising questions about the government’s ability to monitor and protect against homegrown terrorism.

Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney told reporters Monday that the passport of 23-year-old John Maguire had indeed been revoked but was unable to explain how Maguire traveled to Syria, which he did in January of 2013, to join terror group the Islamic State (ISIS).

Fab. That means he can come back into Canada the same way he got out. Misleading headline 🙁

He travelled to Syria using a Letter of Introduction signed by the Leader of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition.
