Guardian: ‘The real problem in Ferguson, New York and all of America is institutional racism’

In the wake of the protests following a grand jury’s failure to indict Darren Wilson for killing Michael Brown, President Obama met Monday with civil rights leaders and, separately, with a group of young activist leaders and told them that the task at hand is to initiate a “sustained conversation” that addresses the “simmering distrust that exists between too many police departments and too many communities of colour”…

…Black men are not dying at the hands of (mostly) white cops – nor are those cops being excused from legal responsibility – because of mutual distrust between black and brown people and law enforcement agencies. To suggest so simply, and perhaps deliberately, mistakes the symptom for the disease.

Trust, or lack thereof, is based on lived experience, and it is the actions of law enforcement in communities of color that has eroded black and brown Americans’ trust…

Things are still so bad in the USA that they have never had a non-white President while there is also the crisis in Chi and Det that have almost 1000 homicides a year to mainly Black victims killed by whites.

    • Xavier

Race is not a qualifier for holding office. Yet.
Source me on those Chi and Det stats, troll.

The real crisis is black on black crime.

      • Gary

True, some people didn’t get my joke and now want proof for the Det Chi stats.
Obama got upset at the Sandy Hook and Aurora shooting to white Folks and he talked about gun control….but not a word from his compassion for the near 1000 homicides mainly to Blacks , mostly by guns and to young males.
I listen to what Obama doesn’t say when he’s up on his soap box saving the World.

Same in Canada take Ottawa there has been 46 shootings 90% of those are in black areas not one word from the left but the minute a black person is shot by a white person there is outrage.

  • Xavier

The real problem in Ferguson, New York and all of America is that blacks commit a disproportionate amount of crime.

  • Blacksmith

Its true…. There is institutional racism, It is not whites who are racist against blacks or others of color however.

Trust is indeed based on lived experience. The lived experience of working-class white Americans is of Africans with below average IQ, above average strength and nearly non-existent impulse control, who think nothing of killing a man over a pack of cheap cigars.

Whites have learned the hard way that blacks can be trusted to behave if the blacks are dead.

Black counter-culture is never the problem.

  • It is only normal to stereotype.

I don’t like walking by pit bull dogs. I don’t care how much you reassure me. I have read too many articles about pit bulls attacking someone. I discriminate.

Jesse Jackson discriminates about the actions of black men. He said “There is nothing more painful to me at this stage in my life than to walk down the street and hear footsteps… then turn around and see somebody white and feel relieved.”

Jesse said this because he has stereotyped black young men.

And that is where the problem is.

Why do people still take the Guardian seriously?

  • Allan

Cops should just quit responding or patrolling these areas. Let the blacks do it themselves. Watch them whine then, when their “precious” children are murdered by other blacks.
