Turkey no friend of the West

Last week, Pope Francis paid a visit to Turkey in what was seen as an attempt to align the Catholic church with moderate Muslims…

… In an address following the meeting, the Pope condemned the Islamic State’s (ISIS) assault on Christians and other religious minorities in Iraq and Syria…

To ensure his condemnation of ISIS was not misinterpreted, Pope Francis also denounced people “who say that all Muslims are terrorists.”

If the pontiff thought Turkey’s leader was the moderate Muslim who would reciprocate in kind, he was setting himself up for disappointment.

On the same day the pontiff met president Erdogan, the Turkish leader delivered a blistering attack on the West, claiming, “They (the West) look like friends, but they want us dead — they like seeing our children die. How long will we stand that fact?”

The Turkish newspaper Hurriyet5 reported Erdogan as saying: “Believe me, they don’t like us.”

In an incendiary attack on his NATO partners, Erdogan said they “love oil, gold, diamonds, and the cheap labor force of the Islamic world.”

The Pope could have taken a less appeasing attitude by standing up to the supremacist and arrogant attitude of global Islamism that poses a threat to human civilization in many ways…

Being a Christian doesn’t require being stupid about stone-cold killers. In fact, Jesus recommended to “Be wise as serpents.”

This Pope is ignoring that. Or else he hopes that by appeasement that it will help the Middle Eastern Christians. It won’t.

Thank You Erdogan if you manage to get us unallied with you.

I’d rather the Russians have Afghanistan and Turkey than the puslums. Why did we ever try to stop them?

I have been saying “free Constantinople” for the last ten years; it was occupied from November 13, 1918 to September 23, 1923.

Pope sacks the head of his Swiss Guard for being ‘too strict’ http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/the-pope/11271618/Pope-sacks-the-head-of-his-Swiss-Guard-for-being-too-strict.html
Hey, Swiss Guards, now is the time to remove the vile apostate and full-blown heretic who pretends to be the pope; drag Jorge off of Saint Peter’s throne NOW!

    • Dana Garcia

The Pope should respect how experts do their job. Swiss Guards don’t criticize his pastoral letters.

    • Frau Katze

I saw that. I might post it later.

It’s interesting how people respond to getting power. Francis is responding to his liberal, emotional side, acting according to how he would like the world to be, rather than to the hard reality.

Being a liberal pacifist type (as he reveals by his behavior), he finds police and military things to be icky and distasteful.

Well that’s it I will no longer eat turkish delight,or smoke turkish hash!

And you confuse Christ’s message and his mortal messenger (or
earthly representative) and earthly organization as being one.

It is entirely logical and mortal to detest the Pope and the RCC
In is in fact Catholic and part of RCC tradition from its beginning
