Nausea warning: Yusuf Islam aka Cat Stevens – now just Yusuf – in the Toronto Star

Yusuf Islam aka Yusuf aka Cat Stevens with his wife and daughters. He now lives in Dubai.

Strolling into Massey Hall after almost four decades will certainly be a special event for me, as well as many of my fans…

A lot has certainly happened since then. I left the music world and entered another. The path I chose was not expected by anyone — least of all me. Changing my “show” name was just a symbolic thing, which was not necessary because the change was really within me. For most it drew a line between my past and present. Now that line is the only thing that separates Yusuf/Cat Stevens.

At one time I wrote, “I’m being followed by a moonshadow — moonshadow — moonshadow.” Today I would amend that to, “I’m being followed by a trail of misconceptions — misconceptions — misconceptions.” Even though (just to reassure you) I continue to sing the original lyrics at my shows.

I chose not to use my surname “Islam” for my return to music because of the stigma attached to the name since I adopted it back in 1978, particularly by the heat-seeking members of the media. However, that didn’t stop certain journalists and bloggers from continuing to tag me with unsavoury controversies and conflicts totally beyond my personal interest or control…

Peace has always been my objective; sadly, that isn’t the case for everybody. That’s why I have called my tour “Peace Train … Late Again!” Stigmas, the same as dirt and mud, are very hard to remove once they’e been attached. However, for those who really listened to my lyrics — old and new — the message is still clearly there…

Don’t be fooled by this liar. The New York Times reported in 1989 regarding Salman Rushdie and Khomeini’s fatwa: “He also said that if Mr. Rushdie turned up at his doorstep looking for help, ‘I might ring somebody who might do more damage to him than he would like. I’d try to phone the Ayatollah Khomeini and tell him exactly where this man is,’ said Mr. Islam, who watched a preview of the program today and said in an interview that he stood by his comments.”

See our post here.  Notice that he is whining too!

    What a shitbag.
You know, there is only one reason he’s touring now.
File sharing has destroyed the royalty model of the music industry.
    Therefore, he’s broke.
The Eagles, for example, don’t tour because they want to.
Same with Fleetwood Mac and many many others.

Interesting point, I was watching American horror story when for no apparent reason they had Stevie Nicks swan about in top hat and welsh witch gown, and lip sync to a decades old tune.
I guess the big cheque speaks loudly now.

      • That’s why you see so many doing commercials now, a generation ago they would have been called sell outs.

I had to pretend to like his crap back in the 70s, that and learn bloody macramé all to get lucky, the smell of patchouli still makes me heave.

Questions for Yusuf (no longer ‘Islam’…because ‘Islam’ is too controversial!):
1)Do you believe an apostate should be killed and that no one should punish the killer as sharia law states?
2)Do you believe women are inferior to men in paradise?
3)Do you believe sex slaves are permitted or not permitted…were Muslims wrong until the 1960s?
4)Do you believe private, secret mysar marriage is permitted?
5)Do you believe it is moral to marry and have sex with a 9 year old girl?
6)Do you believe in FGM or do you want it banned?
7)Do you believe slavery is still valid in Islam in our time?
8)Do you believe world peace will come when all non-Muslims are ruled by Muslims?
9)Do you believe pluralistic democracy is the fairest of all systems of government?
10)Do you believe the sun sets in a muddy pool and that mountains are pegs that hold the land down and that semen is produced in the backbone?

“I’m being followed by a trail of misconceptions…”
No a taqiyya train! Hot, smelly, steaming taqiyya train.

Thank you gnädige Frau Katze. I was slightly bloated from a rather large supper so Cat Stevens was exactly the emetic I needed to relieve my gastric distress.

Will Yusuf (non-Islam) honour kill his daughters if they marry a non-Muslim or come out gay?

  • tank

Also, is crap music allowed in Islamic states?

‘Yusuf Islam’ is a piece of shit, and the Toronto Star’s editorial board is a pile of shits, so they all go well together.

Cat Stevens letter was printed in Tuesday’s paper, and Monday’s Toronto Star had, on page 4, a half page ad for Cat Steven’s, sorry ‘Yusuf’, new album ‘Tell Em I’m Gone’.

The ad pretty is much a larger photo of his new album’s cover.
Even in silhouette you can still see Yusuf Islam’s stupid beard and too-short pant legs.

But, it’s bound to be hard to market a Salafist to a Western audience. 😉

Truth to tell, I am very bored my this pointless little man.

What a weasel to ditch his islamic garb and pretend that his calls to kill Rushdie never happened and that islam is a religion of peace. He just sold-out allah for a few dollars .
He’s being followed by a Moon-God, and with Hamas using civilians as human shields in gaza at school ….tell me where do the children play.

Want to bet he gives a muslim prayer or tries to use his concert as a way to spread islam?
