From Russia with love

For years the liberal New York Times has been a rabid opponent of fracking, hyping every scary and outlandish rumour, and even denying fracking’s economic success.

Their bias has been so lopsided that their own public editor felt obliged to publish a rare rebuke of the newspaper’s ethics, saying their reporting on a 2011 article “needed more convincing substantiation, more space for a reasoned explanation of the other side and more clarity about its focus.”

So the revelations in last Sunday’s New York Times – that anti-fracking activists in Europe may be funded by Vladimir Putin’s Russia – are certainly not the conspiracy theories of a pro-fracking lobby. If the New York Times is willing to report on the possibility of Russian corruption of anti-fracking activists, you know it’s bad.
