(Reuters) – Afghan district police chief Ahmadullah Anwari only has enough grenades to hand out three to each checkpoint in an area of Helmand province swarming with Taliban insurgents who launch almost daily attacks on security forces.

“Sometimes up to 200 Taliban attack our checkpoints and if there are no army reinforcements, we lose the fight,” said Anwari, in charge of one of Afghanistan’s most volatile districts, Sangin.

“It shames me to say that we don’t have enough weapons and equipment. But this is a bitter reality.”

As most foreign combat troops prepare to leave Afghanistan by the end of 2014 after 13 years of war, the experiences of Anwari and other police chiefs and army commanders across the country are NATO’s biggest worry…

Not a shocker; and the Afghans do have enough arms/ammo to handle the Taliban.

    Cheers

In WW1the first Canadian division was stood to in August 1914, shipped to Europe in October 1914 and fought it’s first battle in January 1915. It took six months to recruit train ship to Europe and put the division into battle. If you can’t put an Afghan National Army together in ten years, it aint ever goin’ to happen.

It’s not going to happen. Societies deeply split along ethnic, sectarian, tribal and clan lines cannot field effective national armies. They can fight, but only with each other.

Add Islam to the mix. The Taliban, united by their fanatical beliefs, will easily overcome the rest.

The entire country is a collection of low lifes. They might actually have enough weapons if they would quit selling them to the Taliban.

The US invaded them and later on trained them to fight the Taliban, now the biggest invader in the world should be accounted for,in every life in there.

I have often recommended the video “This is what winning looks like”
After watching it, studying their history, and watching or reading reports from there, one cannot help but reach the conclusion that Afghanistan is screwed. No plan devised by man will ever achieve anything. God is their only hope.

A true but depressing start to the day.

If the Afghan leadership were truly interested in securing their country against the Taliban instead of milking the U.S. and NATO for all the funds they could line their pockets with, they would succeed.
