One of fusilier Lee Rigby’s killers will appeal against his life sentence this week after claiming he has renounced violence.

Michael Adebolago, 29, hacked the 25-year-old soldier to death in south-east London in May last year with his accomplice Michael Adebowale, 23.

They were both jailed for life last December.

But Adebolago is said to be set to claim he is no longer “a Soldier of Allah” in the hope of being freed from prison before reaching old age.

He and his legal team are preparing to challenge his whole life sentence on Wednesday before three judges at the Royal Courts of Justice in London.

Fellow Muslim convert Adebowale, 23, is also being allowed to appeal against his sentence.

The Judicial Office has confirmed the older man had renewed the challenge to his conviction and sentence.

A spokesman said: “The case will now be heard on December 3.”

Both men were told at their trial they would serve a 45-year minimum sentence.

He must delusional. Or stupid.
