Misbahuddin Ahmed sentenced to 12 years for terrorism crimes – Out in 4 to do it again

One day after a Canadian reservist was shot to death within sight of the Ottawa courthouse, Superior Court Justice Colin McKinnon sentenced convicted terrorist Misbahuddin Ahmed on Thursday to 12 years in penitentiary.

McKinnon delivered his sentence in a third-floor courtroom secured by significantly more police officers than at any time during Ahmed’s two-month trial.

McKinnon, who said he was convinced that Ahmed had renounced his terrorist inclinations, refused to impose a maximum sentence, meaning Ahmed could apply to the parole board for early release after serving one-third of his sentence.
