Ottawa considers ban on flights from West Africa

OTTAWA – Ottawa is considering a ban on all flights from Sierra Leone and Liberia as the Ebola virus continues to spread in that region of Africa, Immigration Minister Chris Alexander said Tuesday.
Speaking to reporters in Dartmouth, N.S., Alexander said it would be one measure to protect Canadians from the disease.

“The aim for Canada is to ensure the pandemic does not arrive within our borders,” said Alexander. “We have to minimize those risks and look at new measures so that we can stay ahead of this phenomenon.”
