Harper: Terror threats are ‘very, very, very, very, very real’

OTTAWA – Although he refused to comment directly on an American news report that Canadian authorities foiled a terror plot, Prime Minister Stephen Harper said such threats “are very, very real.”

NBC News reported Wednesday that Canadian officials thwarted an ISIS-inspired plot to carry out a “knife and gun” attack at a “public place” in Canada, but offered few other details.

Anonymous intelligence officials told the American news network “that some of the discussions raise the possibility of attacks on US citizens and other US and Western targets in Canada.”

Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney on Thursday also deflected questions about the NBC report.
