#DiversityIsOurStrength in South Africa: ANC distances itself from ‘kill Jews’ tweet

Johannesburg – The ANC has been asked by the Jewish community to act against hate speech following a Twitter post saying “Keep calm and kill Jews”, The Star reported on Tuesday.

The SA Jewish Board of Deputies wrote a letter to the African National Congress on Sunday to act against hate speech on a Twitter account that was believed to belong to the ANC Youth League.

“We were appalled to learn that earlier that day (Sunday) via a Twitter site presumably used by the ANCYL, namely @ANCYLVote2014, a message calling for the killing of Jews was tweeted,” the board said in its letter.

The board of deputies added that the propagation of such appalling hate speech was generating distress among its communities…
