South Africa: ANC slams ‘racist’ DA over toilets

An SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) report into sanitation in Cape Town’s informal settlements has numerous shortcomings

The ANC has criticised the DA after a controversial Human Rights Commission (HRC) report.

The report found that the City of Cape Town’s toilet plan for Khayelitsha violated the rights of residents, focusing on the use of portable chemical toilets.

The ANC noted the report, saying that it declared the DA’s toilet plan in Khayelitsha to be a violation of human rights.

“The HRC has found the DA-led City of Cape Town guilty of discrimation [sic] on the basis of race and has violated the Constitution of the Republic,” said ANC spokesperson Zizi Kodwa in a press release.

Kodwa claimed that the ruling is proof that the DA is racist and that rights of black people in DA-held areas are denigrated…
