Hundreds of people from the transgender community and beyond gathered in Sackville Gardens this weekend in a truly vibrant celebration of gender diversity.
People from all over the country descended on Sackville Gardens for the annual Sparkle in the Park to celebrate all things transgender with food, drink and live entertainment.
Deputy Event manager Jane Owen has been involved in Sparkle for the last five years.
“It’s a fabulous day out. We’re so happy and so proud that the whole community can come together and it’s not just the LGBT community,” she said.
“For a lot of people here it might be their one opportunity to be who they are because there’s still a lot of stigma attached to the transgender people as a whole.”
Manchester City Council and the police have been behind the event from the beginning. It is run by volunteers and the money raised pays for the event…
