Cops have bone to chew

All he did was dare suggest that paid duty has become such an “entitlement” for Toronto Police officers that those holding special events in the city — particularly charities — are starting to feel “intimidated” by the officers who administer the service.

Toronto Councillor Mike Del Grande, a member of the police services board, also told a board meeting last week that many event organizers can’t afford the number of police officers that are “dictated” to them with no rhyme or reason by the TPS. To add insult to injury, he said, there is an “expectation” that the officers should be given free tickets to eat the food at the events and that their colleagues would be able to come down, as well.
