B.C. taxpayers paid $16K for teen’s ‘useless’ report
VANCOUVER ─ B.C. Education Minister Peter Fassbender has ordered a review after $16,000 in public funds was given to a teenaged student for a study critics have said is useless.
Anjali Vyas was 18 in 2012 when she was awarded the first of two contracts by superintendent of achievement Rick Davis. The contracts were to study teacher education in Finland and present the findings to the Deans of Faculties of Education. Vyas told the Vancouver Sun last year that she met Davis at a friend’s wedding and they “hit it off.”
