Books: ‘Bible and Quran in Lampedusa’, itinerant liturgies

(ANSAmed) – ROME, APRIL 24

“They left with the earth in hand
rising like a prayer
in their steps and faces.
Telling the sea of sadness
and misfortune. Terrible, the Tigris and Euphrates
flow in their wounds.
Love for others
is their tomorrow: endless
energy to which death whispers
only what proclaims life.”

It is with these previously unpublished verses by the Syrian poet Adonis that the book “Bible and Quran in Lampudusa” opens.

Curated by the poet Arnoldo Mosca Mondadori, the religious studies teacher Alfonso Cacciatore, and the historian of contemporary Africa Alessandro Triulzi, it was recently published in Italy by l’Editrice La Scuola (pp. 202, €12.50).

“With this book,” Arnoldo Mosca Mondadori says in the introduction, ”one can pray alongside migrants or simply be by their side. By the side of the migrants who never made it to Lampedusa, those who managed to reach land in the hope of building their and their families’ future and those who are at this very moment on their way here, praying, hoping and looking at the horizon.”

At this rate, it won’t remain an refugee invader target for long. But the refugees invaders are already planning a mass march in Brussels to protest the fact that those arriving at Lampedusa are stuck in Italy.

Of course they want to move on to greener pastures in northern Europe, so they can wreck those places too. The Camp of Saints is coming true.  And idiot Greens are helping them (see last link).
