Virgin Australia passenger plane hijacked and forced to land at Bali airport

A Virgin Australia flight was forced to make an emergency landing in Bali today when a drunk passenger triggered a hijack alert after trying to enter the cockpit.

The Indonesian air force said troops stormed the Boeing 737-800 after the pilot reported that it had been hijacked en route from Brisbane.

A Virgin Australia official later said the alert was sparked by a drunk passenger who was acting aggressively and slammed on the door of the cockpit.

The 28-year-old man, who authorities identified as Matt Christopher Lockley from Australia, was handcuffed by the crew mid-air and placed in a seat at the back of the plane…
