Going Ottoman? Ceremonial cavalry regiment serves for first time in Turkey’s presidential mansion

The ceremonial cavalry regiment was in the spotlight in Turkey’s presidential mansion on April 16, when President Abdullah Gül welcomed his Latvian counterpart Andris Berzins with a ceremony never before seen in Ankara’s Çankaya neighborhood.

Gül met Berzins at the entrance of the mansion and accompanied him to the spot where the two watched the ceremonial cavalry’s maiden performance.

The two heads of state then entered the mansion for official talks after listening to their respective national anthems.
