Commending Muslims for… being Muslim?

Special days and months commemorating the “greatness” of Muslims are popping up all over the place.

The latest is in Iowa, where the governor decided to congratulate the Muslim population, which accounts for around 0.2% of the state, with Muslim Recognition Day.

If that 0.2% had made some remarkable contribution to Iowa, or if there were some other significant reason for recognition, this commemorative day might be understandable. But, to celebrate Muslims for… being Muslim?
