Calling it insensitive to the First Nations people, the Moose Jaw Cultural Diversity Advisory Committee is calling on the Moose Jaw Warriors to reconsider the use of the 1984 team logo in their 30th anniversary celebration.
The logo shows an image of a First Nation person on a skate waving an axe.
“We’re recommending to the Moose Jaw Warriors that they retire the logo.” explained committee chair Barb Frazer. “We recommend that they approach aboriginal people and organizations in Moose Jaw for direction and advice.”
