NDP wants to take back the city

In a campaign launch eerily reminiscent of former mayor David Miller’s in 2006, the flag-bearer for the NDP in this fall’s mayoral race told an adoring crowd last Thursday she wants to “work together with everyone” to make the city better.

Her speech, delivered painstakingly with the assistance of a teleprompter, was long on scripted talking points and very short on specifics.

But those who packed the church — humourless sycophants, fawning media and shabbily-dressed do-gooders — couldn’t have cared less.
