Teacher arrested over ‘extreme porn’ at school ‘targeted by Islamists’

A school at the centre of an alleged Muslim fundamentalist takeover has been hit by another scandal as a teacher was arrested over “extreme pornography”.

Officers swooped on the 37-year-old from Birmingham in a dawn raid which coincided with the arrests of another teacher, aged 32, and a teaching assistant, aged 36, from a different school in the city.

Park View School, whose pupils are almost 100% Muslim, was one of a number of Birmingham state schools said to be targeted by radicals in an underground operation called “Trojan Horse”, which aimed to undermine head teachers and ensure schools were “run on Islamic principles”.

Leaked documents revealed how they claimed to have caused “a great amount of organised disruption” in the city. West Midlands Police said the arrests of staff from Park View and Golden Hillock schools were part of a continuing investigation dating back to April 2013.

The force said the arrests were not connected to the separate Birmingham City Council investigation into the so-called “Operation Trojan Horse” allegations.

All three teaching staff were detained at their homes in Birmingham and Wolverhampton on suspicion of possession of extreme pornography.

Officers from the force’s public protection unit are now questioning the men.

A police spokesman said: “One man is employed at Park View School and the other two men at Golden Hillock School in Birmingham.

“Their management have been notified as well as the Department for Education. Both continue to support the police investigation.”
