Evening photo: Patagonian mountains

Southern Patagonian Andes Powerful winds buffet the southern Pategonian Andes and bring powerful storms from the southern oceans which can last for weeks on end. Temperatures are bitterly cold and snowfall is often relentless. Very little land stands in the way of the winds which are powered by low Antarctic pressure cells. Scientists are not able to place weather stations in the mountains because conditions are too extreme.
