Before IRFAN-Canada was made to evaporate, another Islamist organization with a questionable record had entered the fray, declaring critics of the Islamist convention as “anti-Muslim.” Pro-Hamas CAIR has branches across North America. Its Canadian branch, CAIR-Can, came out swinging in defence of the convention, labelling criticism of IRFAN-Canada’s sponsorship of the event as “yet another example of Islamophobic vitriol aimed at marginalizing and vilifying Muslims.”
