“Lieutenant-Colonel Daniel Davis deliberately broke ranks with the official portrayal of the war after spending a year in the country, issuing a grim assessment and accusing his superiors of covering up the harsh realities that plague the mission.

I get numerous e-mail alerts on a daily basis on Afghanistan, the picture I’m getting is reminiscent of the Vietnam war where inflated body counts were trumpeted as evidence of success. One headline in particular pops up over and over again, it’s generally a variation of “Taliban commander captured or killed etc”. If half of them are true then the Taliban must have its own West Point churning out “commanders” by the score.
