Veronica Brooks is sitting outside the Mississauga trailer that her parents bought in 1986. Her godmother lives here now, and she’s trying to find someone to take her former home. She’s giving away to anyone willing to take it and clean up the site. Her father and brother died in their trailer, and her mother passed away just a couple of years ago, during a long legal battle that began in 2007 when everyone in the mobile home park was served with eviction notices.
“She thought she would die here,” Brooks tells me.
