Review: Super 8

“Abrams, born in 1966, does a marvelous job setting the scene here, based mostly on his own memories of helpless youth from the time, evocatively filmed with the palpable malaise that typified the era. Viewers in their teens and twenties will be stunned and probably envious at how unsupervised kids were back then, while anyone who lived through the time will probably say a silent prayer of gratitude for every improvement in fashion, technology, politics or male grooming that’s happened since.”

Every summer walk I take reminds me of that long ago time.
