From – Fortress CJC:The CIJA Takeover by Diana Ralph
Ed Morgan, the outgoing CJC president and Bernie Farber, the CEO proudly listed their top accomplishments:
– Trying to make criticism of Israel or Zionism illegal as a hate crime
Is this the goal of Bernie Farber & the CJC or simply left wing hyperbole?
I came across this article after receiving a Canadian Arab Federation announcement of this upcoming seminar – NECEF Event: The Israel Lobby and Middle East Peace, (the CAF announcement is in full below). The article by Diana Ralph claims to be an eyewitness account of the 2007 CJC plenary.
The CJC is one of the select activist NGO’s invited by Richard Moon to table submissions to the CHRC sham review of thought crime law Section 13(1). As we have seen the CJC has no problem trampling the rights of others. How democratic, I wasn’t asked to submit in defence of my right to free speech. Maybe I should file a complaint of discrimination against the CHRC & Moony;)
Bernie and the CJC have more in common with the Islamists than I first realized;)
Something is rotten here.
The CAF announcement.
Toronto, October 28./ The controversial University of Chicago’s Dr.John Mearsheimer, co-author with Dr. Steven Walt of The Israel Lobby and US Foreign Policy is arriving in Canada this weekend.
Recently interviewed on national radio, Mearsheimer has caused a firestorm of criticism including calls of anti-Semitism for the theories advanced in his book about the relationship between the Israel lobby and the United States.
“Mearsheimer compels audiences to confront the powerful argument that the Israel lobby has been able to push the United States to develop a special relationship with Israel that has no parallel in modern history,” said NECEF Vice President, the Reverend Robert Assaly,” “The effect of the lobby has been to inflame Arab and Muslim opinion around the world, contrary to US and Israeli interests.”
In the 2nd annual James Graff Memorial Lecture, presented in Toronto Sunday November 2 (details below) and entitled “The Israel Lobby and Middle East Peace” Mearsheimer will argue that the policies pursued by the lobby and adopted by the US have been neither in the interest of Israel or America. He will argue that it would make much more sense for Washington to treat Israel like a normal country. He will also address the significant influence of Israel lobbies in Canada and Europe.
Dr. Mearsheimer is the R. Wendell Harrison Distinguished Service Professor of Political Science and the co-director of the Program on International Security Policy at the University of Chicago. He has written extensively about security issues and international politics.
NECEF (The Near East Cultural and Educational Foundation of Canada) is a volunteer based organization that operates on two defining objectives: to promote a greater understanding of history, cultural and the contemporary situation in the Middle East, focussing on the Arab World; and to fund educational, development and health related projects in the region.
NECEF was founded in 1984 by the late Professor James Graff in whose memory we hold this annual lecture series.
The lecture will take place Sunday Nov. 2, 3:30 pm at Trinity-St. Paul’s United Church, 427 Bloor St. West, Toronto.
Tickets $10 (adult) and $5 (student) are available at the door or in advance from The Women’s Bookstore, 73 Harbord St., Toronto
